Atlanta, Elk Capital of Michigan
A festival for Musicians

August 5,6,7-2005

Where:  Briley Township Park on the
beautiful Thunder Bay River
downtown Atlanta, MI
                                                                                                               the "other" Atlanta!

Sponsored by the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce.


  • All Bluegrass musicians encouraged to participate.
  • No entry charge for spectators, Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy good music along the waterfront at Briley Township Park.
  • Vendors with Music wares welcome.  Individual competitions in guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin; band competition; and band scramble with jammin’ all weekend.
  • Cash prizes in all categories of competition. Individuals: 1st $50, 2nd $25, 3rd $15. Bands: 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50.  Band scramble:  Splits the entry fees for event. 1st gets ½ of the “loot”, 2nd and 3rd split remaining.
  • Limited camping with electric on first come, first served basis:        50amp $40/wknd (you provide 50/30adapter), 30amp $40/wknd,   20amp $20wknd (no air-conditioning w/20amp).                                                                 Water fill and pump out available for a small fee  **Cash Only -  On Site**.
  • No ground fires.
  • Several Motels , restaurants and taverns within walking distance.

    Additional camping at Clear Lake State Park 10 miles north on M33.

    Early Musician Entry forms due by July 15, 2005.  Money Order, Visa/MC or Check. **Cash Only On Site**.

    Tentative Schedule of Events
    for Bluegrass in the Park 2005
     
    Friday August 5:
    Musician sign in/entry; park your rigs; get to know your neighbor; Jammin’

    Saturday August 6:
    (All times are approximate, depending on number of entries)
    10am-11:30am Musician sign in/entry 
    Jammin around the campsites all morning
    12-1pm lunch break/siesta; 
    1-1:30pm sign up for “band scramble”
    1-2pm Fiddle Contest 
    2-3pm Banjo Contest
    3-4pm Guitar Contest 
    4-5pm Mandolin Contest 
    5-6pm Band Scramble
    6-7pm dinner break
    7-9pm Band Contest
    9pm-midnight Jammin’

    Sunday August 7:
    10am-11am Gospel Music
    11am-12noon Contest winners announced/prizes awarded
