Sled Dog races held at Clear Lake Park. Come check out these exciting
races but please, leave your dogs at home

SCCA Sno*Drift Pro-Rally - Rally Teams from across
the globe come to the Atlanta, Lewiston & Hillman area to compete on
the snowy roads in our backwoods. The event is sanctioned by Rally America.
Come experience the excitement!

February 19th - Family Hoedown at the Atlanta
Senior Center located about a mile north of downtown on M-33. Come
kick your heels up with some hometown local dancin' fun.

March 19th - Official First Day of Spring,
South of Atlanta that is. We'll still be shoveling snow and sittin'
by the woodstove thinking about what the leaves will look like when spring
finally gets here hopefully in May.

March 26th - Easter Egg Hunt in downtown
Briley Park. Bring the kiddies and join in the fun. All kiddies will
recieve some goodies and plenty o' smiles

April 16th - Family Hoedown at the Atlanta
Senior Center located about a mile north of downtown on M-33. Come
kick your heels up with some hometown local dancin' fun.

April 16th, 17th - 2-Day Poker Tournament
at the Hillman Community Center.

April 30th - Opening Day of Trout Season.
Enjoy some relaxing and beautiful scenery while fishing our area's trout
streams including Gilchrist Creek, one of Michigan's "Blue Ribbon" trout
streams.

May 1st - Unofficial First Day of Spring
in Atlanta

May 15th - 21st - COMMUNITY PRIDE WEEK
Come on out and help us locals do some spring cleaning in town and along
the main roadways. Beautification idea's welcome, if you're willing to
assist with the idea. Sponsored by the Atlanta

May 24th - the White Morels are in season
with many Blacks still about. Get out in the woods and get some "yum
fun"!

May 28th - Lions Pancake Breakfast at the Atlanta
Briley Park Pavilion from 8 am-12 noon. A few bucks gives you some good
"all you can eat" pancakes and sausage that will surely fill your tummie.
Start the day with a casual social over breakfast. Proceeds go to the Atlanta
Lions Club.

June 1st - Time to plant the 'maters. The frost
should finally be history as of yesterday.

June 11th & 12th - No fishing license?
No big deal 'cause it's FREE FISHING WEEKEND allowed by the Michigan
DNR. Check your 2005 DNR Fishing Guide for more details.

July 2nd - Independence Day celebration
- Lions Pancake Breakfast at the Briley Park Pavilion from 8 am
- 12 noon. Parade on main street at noon, Games and Crafts
in the park during the daytime, Bump and Run at the Montmorency
County Fairgrounds mid afternoon and a spectacular fireworks display
held at Davis Field, across from the Atlanta High School at dusk. Souveniers
and food available at the concession stand located at the rear of the field
parking next to the High School.

July (late) / August (early) - Blueberry
picking season! This area is Blessed with fantastic Blueberry pickin' under
the pines. Get out into nature and take advantage of some of
the candy she has to offer!

August 5th, 6th & 7th - Bluegrass
in the Park - The first annual Bluegrass Festival held in Atlanta's
Briley Park, downtown. Musicians are invited to come for a playoff with
other musicians for cash prizes and a whole lot of north woods fun.

August 17th-20th - Montmorency County
4-H Fair held at the Fairgrounds north of town 2 miles off M-33. Farm
animals, contests, crafts, auctions and good 'ol north country entertainment.

Season for Black Bear hunting.

September 23rd - 25th - 21st
Annual Elk Festival !!! Grand Opening/Flag Ceremony
at the Chamber office at 5pm, Beer Tent opens at 5pm and the Elk Fest Parade
at 6pm Friday the 23rd to start it all off. Vendors with food,
crafts, auction, entertainment. Beer Tent with music entertainment
held in our quaint Briley Park in downtown Atlanta. Bump and Run
held at the Fairgrounds 2 miles north of Atlanta off M-33. Vendors wanted!
