A very special thankyou to Rick & Gordon (Gordie) Ferguson for their years of dedication to the Elk Pole Contest.
At 4:15pm Wednesday the prize and trophy presentation began with a special “thank you“ to Gordon and Rick Ferguson of Atlanta. A plaque was given to both in recognition by the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce for their 25 years or so of running the Elk Pole Contest.  2007 was the last year for this father and son team to run the Elk Pole Contest. Even though I have helped them out these recent years with registration and photo shoots, I hadn’t realized just how much of a sacrifice Gordon and Rick had made until this year when we had to do the Elk Contest without them. It’s amazing how in the world Gordon and Rick had pulled this off basically by themselves.  Awards and thank you’s don’t seem enough to show just how much we appreciate the generosity and sacrifice of you both.  To think you did it for “us”!   Atlanta is a better place because of you guys.
A salute to you both in gratitude and appreciation!
